Whew...what a time!!!

Hello all,
So sorry for the long blogging post delay. I am back home in NC at my sister's place. My family went home to NC for Christmas the Saturday before Christmas and we had plans for staying the whole week and leaving the next Sunday. Well other plans decided to happen. We did get to stay all week! Dad went home on Sunday to get back to work. Me though? Well out of all times early this past Saturday morning I got a really bad cough and it would not stop. I thought it was allergies and went to walmart and got some meds. Well as the day went on I kept getting worse and more sick. I decided their was no way I could make the long ride home to TN the next day. So me and Mom stayed here. I decided to go to the doctor on Sunday. My fever spiked as high as 103!! They did chest x-rays and a flu test and yeap I tested postive for the flu :( So I am being treated for the flu plus meds for pneumonia so if I did have that it would treat it. What a long weekend it has been. My mom now has a fever and feeling sick. Please be in prayer for us? Thank you so much!!

I love time life old pictures. I found this box of Christmas cards and got them for $1.00. They were marked on them at Target for 6.99!!
This was cute. It's a tissue holder, but the lid is on top so you could use it a box storage type decor. Price tag on it from Bed,Bath and Beyond for 19.99. I got it for $1.50!!!!!!

Love making other people's junk my treasures!!!  Love the prices as well!!

Silent Night...

One of my favorite Christmas songs. So peaceful to listen too or read the words!! Such a touching and moving song. Can you just imagine what that time would have been like? A new babe in a manager. I believe it was a silent and holy night. I believe everything was peaceful and calm!!

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born

Silent night, holy night!
Son of God love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth

Duck Dynasty&Phil Thoughts...

Big story breaking tonight with Duck Dynasty. Just Google it and you will find out why. I have watched the show a couple times and had a few good laughs. What I admire most is the Christian beliefs they hold and ending each show with a prayer. So tonight they have took Phil off the show due to his beliefs he spoke in a magazine. One question I always have? Why is it that everybody else in the world can voice their opinions but when Christians voice theirs we all get bashed, name called, haters, bigots and other words thrown at us. Why can't we Christians never voice anything? Why can everybody else always voice and not get nothing said? I just don't understand it!! It upsets me so much. Just because I don't believe in Gay lifestyles that does not make me a bigot or I'm Judging others. I am simply stating what I believe to be God's words. If God wanted 2 of the same sex together he would have made it so they could come together as 1. No he made it to where only Man and Woman can come together. Only Man and Woman can produce children. Those things along should tell you that it is against nature and God for two of the same sex to be together. So I commend people like Phil who stand for their convictions!!

Thanksgiving back home...

Hello all,
So sorry for not waiting lately. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!! Right before we were suppose to go home to NC,a winter storm was blowing through. It was also going to be right in the path of the road we took through the mountains to get home. So after watching all the weather we decided we didn't want to risk going down the mountains in snowy and icy weather. So we thought we were not going. The day we are suppose to leave though all the reports were saying the roads were pretty clear and it would be ok. So we took the chance and left Wednesday around lunch and we made it home for Thanksgiving!!! We ran into some snow and slick roads around the mountains in some parts. Other than that we made it just fine. We were able to spend Thanksgiving with my sister and meet up with a bunch of family at different times. My sister lives in the same complex and Grandpa and Uncle live in. So we were all in the same area..lol :) It was so good to see everybody and home!! We made it home last night after all day on the road. It took us longer than usual because of so much holiday traffic and traffic Jams due to road constructions. We were at the last exit before our exit on the hwy and we hit another Jam and were stuck for awhile. We were like 2 minutes away and were like we were almost there..lol..finally we hit out exit and I said Amen!!! I don't like traveling in a car so long.

Clear one minute and the next light snow to slick roads.

The roads going down on some parts.

Quick stop by Maggie Valley on the way home

Love how the water freezes off the mountains.
She loves doing this!!!

Book Review:Country Faith

I recently got the chance to review this new book out "Country Faith". It was a nice simple little read. Filled with tons of popular country singers and I notice some gospel singers in there as well. Each page has a nice colorful picture of the person with the page going with it about their favorite bible verse. They explain why it is their favorite verse and the story behind it. If you are a country music fan or just want something simple to read than this is the book for you. It would also make a great gift for someone who loves country music. It was nice little read with tons of great bible verses from the music stars who favor them. Not a devotion book,it's just a simple reflections book that can be read in a day.

I received this book free from the publisher for my honest review.

Christmas tree up..Check!!!

So this past weekend I went and brought my Christmas tree out of storage. I have my own one I put in my room. What a time it has been this year. The lights were working and so on the tree they go. Some of them went out and I didn't like it. So down with the whole tree. So I check lights on another set. I put on some Christmas music and everything is beautiful. I am about to put up my last few ornaments and yep, "out they go". So yep down it all comes again. I was beginning to think,I am finish with it this year, lol,"forget it". So finally I just buy some brand new lights and lo and behold it stayed on so far everything is finished on the tree!!!! I know it's early but I love Christmas!!!!

One Light still shines by Marie Monville Book Review

I am always fascinated by the Amish culture. A couple years ago I watched as the news of a school shooting in their Amish community rocked their quiet world. It wasn't just a random person on the street. It was a neighbor, a man, father and husband who did this horrible act. I got to recently read this book "One light still shines" by his wife. She was just as surprised as everyone else. A christian normal family. Marie the wife of the killer tells a story in her own words. It's not about every little detail of their lives and every little thing that happened. It's a story about her faith in God and how he brought her through this hard time in her life. It's about how Christ brought her through and even in the mist of pain and sorrow that one light does still shine and it is God! I was encouraged by the faith she had and courage to keep going after this. A great book for anyone to learn that God does still shine even in the darkest hour.

Book Review: For ever Season by Cindy Woodsmall

About the book: Working hard to develop a new Amish community outside of Unity, Maine, Rhoda Byler is fully committed to rehabilitating an orchard with business partner Samuel King. But an impulsive decision has created an unexpected strain in her relationship with her beau, Samuel’s brother, Jacob, threatening plans for the orchard. Amidst mounting tension in matters of the heart and business, Rhoda finds that this fledging settlement feels like the home she has always longed for, and she begins to embrace the God-given, heightened intuition that has always felt like a burden to her. She longs for Jacob to fully be free of his past, so they can work towards the future together. But as Rhoda uses her gift to unpack an old secret with her Englisch neighbors, it is not her beau but an unlikely ally that cheers her on. With the orchard on shaky ground and Jacob’s plans in question, Rhoda is determined to see things through to harvest. But can she trust her insight to direct her path in matters of the heart?

My Thoughts: I was so excited to read book 3 in this series. I have really gotten into this series and can't wait to see what happens. It leaves me waiting to see what will happen. In this book we got everybody still at the farm working hard to try make the orchard a success  We learn more about Camilla and Bob. We learn more about what happen to Jacob with his troubles in the English world. We meet Iva who comes to work at the farm. We see a lot of stuff working up to everything in book 3. I love the characters and the storyline. It's full of twist and turns and surprises. Plus it does not end here I found out book 4 will soon come out. You can't read this as a stand alone book. You must read all of them to know where you are at.

One year book of Amish Peace book Review

About the book: In our instantly connected world, it’s surprisingly easy to lose our connection to God. This devotional taps Amish wisdom in order to help us draw closer to God and hear his voice. In The One Year® Book of Amish Peace, you’ll get a daily taste of Amish values and wisdom. Tricia Goyer shares her fascination with the Amish in a way that will inspire and encourage believers to carve out more time in each day to listen to God and experience his presence. This daily devotional contains interesting facts about the Amish, recipes, and information about the way the Amish handle money, rear their children, and center their lives on faith in God. You’ll be inspired to slow down and find ways to simplify so that you, too, can experience God in the ordinary.

My Thoughts: If you know me,you know I love Amish fiction books. So I was super excited to get Tricia's devotion book "The one year book of Amish peace". It incorporated one of my favorite subjects to read into a day by day devotion. One each page is a story/devotion,bible verse, prayer to pray and neat facts or quotes on the side. I loved this book. Plus it included a few recipes which I loved as well. It is such a great and different devotion book. It makes me want to pick it up and read. It keeps me interested because it's based with Amish life and I love that. Full of 365 days of insight. If you love the Amish, this is the book for you!!
