Book Review:The Memory Jar by Tricia Goyer

I just got the chance to review this book by Tricia!! I have read other books by her and I loved this one too!! Sarah lost a dear friend in a lake accident. In the book it goes back some with memories from their friendship. She holds memories in a Jar that remind her of certain times in her life. Every year Amish men come into her town to stay and hunt. She catches the eye of one of them. I don't want to spoil anything so that is just a sample of what the book is about. I really enjoyed this book! I loved the interaction between the main characters. I loved that it involved baking too it reminds me of an Amish bakery near my house.  Sarah   is different then most Amish woman and I found her to be a nice person. We all need to be the person God has created us to be and not put away what talent he gives us. I love the gentle way that Jathan knew her and seen deep within and how important his family was to him. This book was touching at the end as well. I liked this newest Amish fiction and it's the first in a series so I can't wait for the next one to come out!!

Book Review:Grieving God's Way by Margaret Brownley

I just had the chance to review this book. The main reason I got it was for my mom. She lost her Mother recently and has had a hard time with it. I knew she would be helped by this book. The lady that wrote it has been through the grief process and so she knows where you are coming from and what stages you will through in the time after the loss. This book is a 90 day devotion book to help you through it. It's a great book for a Christian who has been through a loss of a loved one. It has scripture and other things to help you through it. My mom was very thankful that I got her this and I think it helps knowing she isn't alone and that somebody else knows what she is feeling.

Book Review:A Merry Little Christmas by Anita Higman

I just had the chance to read "A Merry Little Christmas". Franny lives on a farm and her parents died when she was younger during a tornado. She dreams of leaving the farm and getting on a radio station and something with music in the city. Her farm is up for sale and one day a guy by the name of Charlie shows up. He is a rich man from a rich family that buys the farm. He is wanting to show his father that he can make it on his own and build up something. Franny agrees to show him how everything works. She moves on to the city and meets an interesting lady she becomes friends with. Charlie though shows up wanting her help. This book was a cute little novel and it kept me reading til the end to see what would happen. I kinda knew what was going to happen. It also dealt with real issues such as racism and how African Americans were treated unfairly back in those days. I never really felt a connection to the relationship of Charlie and Franny. It was a nice little read, but I didn't really connect to any of the people or feel the spark between Charlie and Franny.

Beautiful Fall day walk...

I got out and enjoyed the fall weather today. I went to a local place called Dunbar Cave. I walked the path to the cave and just enjoyed the colors and taking a few pictures. The cave is closed inside to the public now,but the outside is pretty to look around. Loving the beautiful colors and cooler weather.

 I seen the pretty ducks
The path to the cave was beautiful covered with leaves

 Turtles!

The Cave area. It used to back in the old days a place where music was played and people danced.

Staying Content...

I know we are to be content in life, but to be honest I sometimes have trouble with being content. I had so many things in mind that I was supposed to be at in life now. Seeing everyone I have known having babies and getting married always tugs at me a little. Don't get me wrong I am still very happy for everyone that does these, but somewhere deep down a longing always hits me on how my dream is not coming true. I have this dream of being a wife and mother. I didn't realize til lately how deeply I wanted it. I always tuck it away somewhere inside and say it does not bother me,but I am finding out it does bother me. It also hurts to hear in the world that people can have kid after kid but yet they don't want them, abort them, neglect them or hurt them. Why are they able to have children but some that would give wonderful homes and want kids can't have them? That question makes me wonder a lot. Just thought I would pour my heart out a little with some honest feelings. Maybe some single person out there can understand what I am trying to say or maybe they feel the same way. I am though trying to work on being content and God has a plan and I will follow what he wants me to do.

Love me some deals...

I love some good deals. Well first off I went in Target while waiting for my mom to get out of the doctor's office. I love Target's dollar section. I always tell myself I won't buy anything and no I don't need those really cute pens with such a cute design on them. Though it always ends up being checked out and bought. I love those little cute items there. You can make cute gift baskets or little gifts for somebody or prizes for a church or school event. I kinda wish the whole dollar tree store was like the items in this little section at Target. Ok I'm fixing to want to go back so I better stop..lol:) So then we had to go by K-mart and I love their Clearance when they have one. They had lots of summer stuff marked to 2.99!! Since I am hot natured I can use cool clothes all year round around the house. So I ended up with 3 shirts and 1 pair of comfy pj Capri's all for 2.99 each!! Plus their shoes were 50% off the marked clearance price making shoes a steal!! If you have kids a bunch of toys were marked down 50% off the clearance price. Good time to stocked for Christmas gifts. This was all at my Kmart here so I'm not sure if it's every Kmart but at least go look!! In my previous post I mentioned a deal on pictures. Well I got a ton of pics for around $9. For clicking on the link in the last post you will get 60 free 4x6 prints. My mom needed some prints so she clicked into my link and she signed up and got 60 free prints and plus they gave her 20 free prints for a new account. Book Review:Return to Sunday Dinner by Russell Cronkhite

I love cookbooks and recently got the chance to review "Return to Sunday Dinner" by Russell Cronkhite. I always remember Sunday dinners. It was important part of the week. We would go to church then come home and Lunch would be waiting on the table. It was always so good for some reason the best meal of the week. In this book you go back to those dinners on Sunday. Filled with stories and recipes that will bring you back to those times. Nothing really stood out about this cookbook from others and the recipes were not the down home kind I thought I might find. I like simple and easy with basic ingredients recipes. It does have few I might try though. Not a bad cookbook because with all the recipes online now I think cookbooks on the market face a high calling to live up too when it's easy to just grab one off the Internet, but this was a nice cookbook.

I received this book from booksneeze free for my review

Book Review:Sinner's Creed by Scott Stapp

I recently got to read and review "Sinners Creed" by Scott Stapp. He's a member of the popular band known around the world as Creed. I loved their songs and was excited to read his book. He says most people thought they were a Christian band. It's funny I never thought they were one and didn't know he was raised in a very religious home. Someone had told me he was a Christian. This book takes us through when his father left and his mother married a new man. He became Scott's father in every way. Years though of being raised in a really strict religious home by him lead to Scott leaving home and wanting nothing to do with him. It goes into how the band started and how he got caught up in the Rock lifestyle of Drugs and wild living. He always through the whole time wrestled with his religion. This book is about finding forgiveness and about God's love and forgiveness and how he came back to God. I really enjoyed reading about his journey and what he went through in his walk with Christ. It also includes tons of his song lyrics at the back of the book. Great read.
