Favorite Christmas Movies...

I love when my favorite Christmas movies roll out for the season!! I admit though I can watch these anytime of the year. These are my favorite Christmas movies.

"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"
I have watched this movie since I was a child. It is so sweet and shows the true meaning of Christmas!! It's such a special Christmas movie to me.
I found the whole movie on youtube. It's broken into parts. Click here to watch it.

"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"
Ok seriously who has not seen this one? It never gets old. Here is one of my favorite clips from the movie.

"A Christmas Story"
Where have you been if you have never seen this one? It's a must watch every year at least one time!! I have always watched this one. I think it ranks as one of the top in my book. Below is one of my favorite clips.

"ELF"
This movie makes me laugh every time. Such a great comedy during the Christmas season. I love Buddy the Elf!!

"The Homecoming"
I love "The Waltons" and this is the first movie that started the series. Most of the cast from this one star in the series. I found the movie on youtube in full version. Click here to watch.

Fun at a 1850's Wedding!!

If you know me or just by looking at my blog you can tell,I love any old stuff from the past. I live near Land Between the Lakes in KY. I love "The Homeplace". It is really one of the best living history farms I have seen. Live animals and costume workers all the time. I just really love it. I missed the event last year, but I got to go yesterday to it this year. A reenactment of a 1850's wedding!! I loved it. Call me a nerd or dork or whatever, but I love history things like this. I love seeing, hearing or reading about time periods in the past. Here is a few pictures from this weekend. I didn't take any really of the farm because I have a bunch I took already on another trip. If you want to see those Posts click below

On to this weekend!!

The Single Pen house where the wedding took place
and the ducks below were invited to the wedding I guess?

The Groom showed up. Along with the preacher and Bride's Brother
I love the wedding veil and gloves.
Felt like you were back in time sitting with all the people!
Putting a shoe on the brides forehead and then passing it to the new husband. Reminded the bride that authority over her has passed to her new husband. In turn, the groom promised to treat his wife well.
The mother brushed the bride with a small sheaf of
wheat to symbolically ensure fertility in the marriage

 Married! It was so cute.

They served Cake and Cider to all the guest
They did the cake cutting
 First dance. The waltz.
Virginia Reel Dance
“Run for the Broom” game played by single men
“Toss the Cat in the Quilt,” game for the single ladies
“Catch the Bride’s Sock,” game. Removes brides sock and throws for single ladies to catch it

"The Virginia Reel Dance"

A short clip of the first dance

I hope you enjoyed this post!! I had a great time!!

My Home

It's a long and dusty road that my feet, they are traveling on,
and sometimes oh the clouds are dark and low,
oh but I've got, I've got to keep the faith and walk the straight and the narrow way
to reach that place that I will call my home.

CHORUS
For my home is just around the bend,
I think about it now and then,
reunions by the millions everywhere,
But the one that I so long to see is the One who bled and died for me,
My home, My home, A place I long to be.

Now so many hold this old world so dear,
but I am just a stranger here
just passing through on a temporary stay,
but I'm looking forward to the time when all of heaven it will be mine
I'll watch and pray for it could be just any day.

REPEAT CHORUS

(ending)
For my home is just around the bend,
I think about it now and then,
My home my home a place I long to be.

My home my home a place I long to be,
Thats my home.

Downton Abbey

Well I have joined others around the world!! I love Downton Abbey, the t.v show!! I am hooked on it. It airs in UK and comes to America later after it's aired and it has become quite the hit! They are on season 3 here now,but being the not so patient person I am I was able to find all of season 3 online, and watch it. I am currently waiting for season 4 which starts over there in the fall and over here next year!!! Their is one part I don't agree with in it, but I overlook or move through those scenes with that topic in it. I love everything else about the show!! I love the decor and the clothing and the time period. It all centers on a high society family upstairs and then all the servants and their lives downstairs!

Here is a peak at Downton Abbey!

Book Review:The Bridesmaid by Beverly Lewis

I love Amish fiction and I love Author Beverly Lewis. So I recently read the new book "The Bridesmaid" by her. Joanna is three times a Bridesmaid but never a bride that is according to her sister. Joanna meets Eben while at the coast and the two fall in love. Their are things holding her in her town and things holding him in his town for either of them to get married. I liked this book. I didn't know when I got it that it was the 2nd in a series, but really I jumped right in and had no trouble. It didn't even seem like book 2. I think I will read book 1 though to see where the other characters come in at. It also talks a little about some of the people in other Beverly Lewis books. I got a little upset with her sister Cora Jane in the book at one point. I thought Joanna and Eben had a very sweet courtship. It didn't have a whole lot going on in the book I thought. Really no twist or turns and could kind of tell what was going to happen next. Other then that it was a nice little read for Amish fiction lovers!

Book Trailer on the book

I received this book free from Bethany house for my honest Review

I'll be home...if only in my dreams...

The holiday season is upon us once again. I have always loved this time of the year. We would always have family Thanksgiving with everyone at our house. Same for Christmas we would always have a get together on Christmas eve. Both events with lots of good food and laughs and memories made. I lived in the same home my whole life so I feel memories in every corner and part of that home. Now though is different no gathering's this year at home. Right now their are new people living in my home the people we are renting it too. Last year was our first Thanksgiving here in TN and we made it through our first one out here, but that Friday my grandma was put in the hospital and me and mom were in NC for a long time. In December my grandma went home to heaven. I didn't really think about Christmas last year so many people were in and out during my grandma's passing and we were staying with my Grandpa. We had a very quiet day and went to church. No big gathering's like years past. This year though will be the first Thanksgiving mom does not have her mom here and their won't be any big dinner at my home like years before. We plan to go out to eat for Thanksgiving. It's going to be so different. Christmas will be different and I think it will hit everybody this year because it won't be people in and out like last year during all the funeral things. These holidays will be different. So much has happened and plus with us moving out of state. We won't have home to come too. I am so thankful for everything that has been brought our way. It's just the little things that are big things to me that I will miss. Here are pictures from past years.

~Smelling food cooking when waking up on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning by mom working on the meals.

~The cozy sweet feeling of being in your home

~Dad putting up the Christmas lights and the whole house looking so pretty

~Making my snow town I made every year at Christmas

~Just being in our home together

I can't even begin to name all the things I hold dear in my heart. I don't know what the future holds and if we will ever get to move back home and be in that home again but I do know I have such dear memories within my heart that I would not trade for anything. I am truly blessed to have them. Not all have such good memories. I have grown up with many to last me many lifetimes. I am grateful for that.
