Thorns:A Beautiful Reminder

I received the following in a Fwd email and it was just so touching and so true that I wanted to share on here. We often forget to praise God during the storms of life. We need to learn lessons from our trials and pain and remember him in times of good or bad.

Sandra felt as low as the heels of her shoes when she pulled open the florist
shop door, against a November gust of wind. Her life had been as sweet as a
spring breeze and then, in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a "minor"
automobile accident stole her joy. This was Thanksgiving week and the time she
should have delivered their infant son.  She grieved over their loss.
 Troubles had multiplied.
Her husband's company "threatened" to transfer his job to a new location. Her
sister had called to say that she could not come for her long awaited holiday
visit. What's worse, Sandra's friend suggested that Sandra's grief was a
God-given path to maturity that would allow her to empathize with others who
suffer. "She has no idea what I'm feeling," thought Sandra with a shudder
"Thanksgiving? Thankful for what?" she wondered. "For a careless driver whose
truck was hardly scratched when he rear-ended me? For an airbag that saved my
 life, but took my child's?"
"Good afternoon, can I help you?"
Sandra was startled by the approach of the shop clerk. "I . . . I need an  arrangement,"
   stammered Sandra.
"For Thanksgiving? I'm convinced that flowers tell stories, " she continued.
"Are you looking for something that conveys 'gratitude' this Thanksgiving?"
"Not exactly!" Sandra blurted out. "In the last five months, everything that could go
wrong has gone wrong." Sandra regretted her outburst, and was surprised when the
clerk said, "I have the perfect arrangement for you."
Then the bell on the door rang, and the clerk greeted the new customer...
"Hi, Barbara, let me get your order." She excused herself and walked back to a small
workroom, then quickly reappeared, carrying an arrangement of greenery, bows,
and what appeared to be long-stemmed  thorny roses. Except the ends of the rose
stems were neatly s nipped: there were no flowers.
"Do you want these in a box?" asked the clerk.. Sandra watched - was this a joke?
Who would want rose stems with no flowers! She waited for laughter, but neither woman
laughed. "Yes, please," Barbara replied with an  appreciative smile. "You'd think after
three years of getting the special, I wouldn't be so moved by its significance,
but I can feel it right here, all over again," she said, as she gently tapped her chest.
Sandra stammered, "Ah, that lady just left with .. . uh .. . she left with no flowers!"
"That's right," said the clerk. "I cut off  the flowers. That's the 'Special'.  I call
it the Thanksgiving Thorns Bouquet.  Barbara came into the shop three years
ago, feeling much as you do today," explained the clerk. "She thought she had
very little to be thankful for. She had  just lost her father to cancer; the family
business was failing; her son had gotten  into drugs; and she was facing major
surgery. That same year I had lost my  husband," continued the clerk. "For the
first time in my life, I had to spend the  holidays alone. I had no children, no
husband, no family nearby, and too much  debt to allow any travel."
"So what did you do?" asked Sandra.
"I learned to be thankful for thorns,"  answered the clerk quietly. "I've always
thanked God for the good things in my life and I never questioned Him why those good
things happened to me, but when the bad  stuff hit, I cried out, 'Why? Why me?!' It
took time for me to learn that the dark  times are important to our faith! I have
always enjoyed the 'flowers' of my life,  but it took the thorns to show me the
beauty of God's comfort! You know, the  Bible says that God comforts us when we're
afflicted, and from His consolation we  learn to comfort others."
Sandra sucked in her breath, as she  thought about what her friend had tried to
tell her. "I guess the truth is I don't  want comfort. I've lost a baby and I'm
 angry with God."
Just then someone else walked in the shop.
"Hey, Phil!" the clerk greeted the  balding, rotund man.
"My wife sent me in to get our usual Thanksgiving arrangement . . twelve
thorny, long-stemmed stems!" laughed Phil  as the clerk handed him a tissue wrapped
 arrangement from the refrigerator.
"Those are for your wife?" asked Sandra  incredulously. "Do you mind telling me why
she wants a bouquet that looks like that?" "Four years ago, my wife and I nearly
divorced," Phil replied. "After forty  years, we were in a real mess, but with
the Lord's grace and guidance, we trudged  through problem after problem, the Lord
rescued our marriage. Jenny here (the clerk) told me she kept a vase of rose stems to
remind her of what she had learned from "thorny" times. That was good  enough for me. I took home some of those  stems.. My wife and I decided to label each one for a specific "problem" and give  thanks for what that problem taught us."As Phil paid the clerk, he said to Sandra,  "I highly recommend the Special!". "I don't know if I can be thankful for the  thorns in my life" Sandra said to the  clerk. "It's all too . . fresh."
"Well," the clerk replied carefully, "my experience has shown me that the thorns
make the roses more precious. We treasure  God's providential care more during
trouble than at any other time. Remember that it was a crown of thorns that Jesus
wore so we might know His love....Don't  resent the thorns."
Tears rolled down Sandra's cheeks. For the first time since the accident, she
loosened her grip on her resentment. "I'll take those twelve long-stemmed thorns,
please," she managed to choke out. "I hoped you would," said the clerk gently.
"I'll have them ready in a  minute.". "Thank you. What do I owe you?""Nothing. Nothing but a promise to allow God to heal your heart...The first year's arrangement is always on me."The clerk smiled and handed a card to Sandra. "I'll attach this card to your
arrangement, but maybe you would like to  read it first."
It read: "My God, I have never thanked You for my thorns. I have thanked You a
thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of
the cross I bear; teach me the value of my thorns. Show me that I have climbed closer
to You along the path of pain. Show me  that, through my tears, the colors of Your
 rainbow look much more brilliant."
Praise Him for the roses; thank Him for the thorns.
God Bless all of you. Be thankful for all that the Lord does for you.
"Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God."

We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and Duct tape.   God did it with nails.

When The Hurt Runs Deep By Kay Arthur Book Review

I have faced many things in life and sometimes yes It does leave me asking why me God? What have I done to deserve this? Well in this book she uses stories from real life, parts and stories from the bible with her own thoughts that points you back to God when the pain does run deep. There are so many bad things in happening in life and naturally we will ask Why me? In this book she shows you to turn to God when the hurt starts running deep. From experiences in her own life as well, she shows us that the one true person who really cares is God and he's not doing this on purpose, there is a reason for everything when things go bad. She shows you how to grow closer to God in this book. Very good book for the hurting heart and questioning themselves and why. Points you back to the one who really will never fail you.

I gave it to the Lord

Last night I was watching a movie. It was called Though none go with me. It was based around that verse in the song I have decided to follow Jesus. I just started crying and I felt the Lord tugging at my heart. I have had no peace lately and with my Ocd/Depression I have just really had a tough time of it. I was kinda slipping away from God being so frustrated about stuff. Last night the Lord came too me and in my room I had a good long Cry with the Lord and I rededicated my heart and life to the Lord. I just completely gave my heart and life over and it's now truly being led by him. I just feel so peaceful now. I woke up this morning with a sweet peaceful feeling. I know he has a plan for my life. I am so happy he came by me and renewed me fresh again. We all slip and fall sometimes but I am so happy the Lord gives second chances. Praise the Lord!!

Lazarus Awakening By Joanna Weaver Book Review

I was recently able to review the book Lazarus Awakening by Joanna Weaver.  Sometime people struggle including myself does God really love me? Even in those time when you don't feel it,is he still there and loving you? Through the book she talks about how God truly does love us just like he promise. His love is forever and he will never stop loving you as a person would,he is with you always. Sometimes we do things and we think how could God love me after that? Or maybe your going through a hard time and wonder where is God's love now? This book answers those very questions along with good insights and thoughts from Joanna. This book shows you that even in the darkest times and the lonely road you may be on,indeed he still loves you. Just as he called Lazarus to a new life. Jesus wants you to live in his light of love. The book is a great book if your struggling with is he still there for me? It also includes a ten week study for alone time or group time. A nice read for the struggling heart.

I Received this book free from Waterbrook/Multnomah for my honest review.

Just a Thought...

On the news I think it was inside edition the other night they were showing private rooms for the Superbowl game. People could rent them...the price ready for this? $95,000 for one night!!! It makes me mad when people blow money on stuff so material like that when

There is Hungry people all around the world and have not ate in days
People that have lost their homes to Storms,Earthquakes,Floods
People Dying from Diseases because they have no medical help
All the Homeless people without homes
People Cold in the streets with no warm clothing
People who have lost their Jobs and are barely making by each month
The List could on and on

It just really got me to thinking. Why don't they take that money and do some good with it. I mean that much for one little room with a window and seats to watch a football game? I could never spend that much on something like that and not feel guilty. There is so much going on in the world. I am just so tired of people being into material stuff your not going to take it when you leave this earth. Jesus says to help others.  Just a thought I have on my mind I wanted to share with you. Just had to get it off my chest.

Just a thought: Jesus feed thousands with a few fish and bread. Can you just imagine what 95,000 would buy in food, clothes, medical help around the world?

Books,Movies and Random Talk

Yes..I changed the look again and you might come back again and find it a whole new way another day..who knows? I love messing and designing my blog:) Nothing much on my mind right now. I move the music player to the right near the top so you could turn if off easy if you wanted to watch a video I post. I got thoughts and post ideas in my head,it's just a matter of putting them on here. I love blogging:) I think I love it more then Facebook. God knows I am a shy person and I think it's his way of letting me show Christ to others around the world. That is the great thing about the Internet you never know who is reading it so you can get anybody from any country and that is cool. I have been reading a lot. Some of the books I finished are.

Life in Spite of Me by Kristen Jane Anderson Book Review

Wow..that is the words that come to mind when I think of this book. I read it in 2 days. She is such an inspiration to people. She was a young lady who suffered from depression and always felt like she didn't belong or what was her purpose in life and I totally related to her on that. Cause I have struggle with depression and those same issues. One night though it all got to be to much for her and she went and laid down on train tracks and the train could not stop in time and pretty much the whole train went over her and it's amazing, she survived it,but lost both her legs in the process. She was very close to dying. She talks in the book about how she grew up in church, her time in the hospital and teaching herself how to move and do for herself with no legs. She is being fitted for some legs to help her walk again. She already has been in some but they give her some pain, but after she realized she needed God in her life and was saved and now she feels she has a purpose in life,to help others suffering. She's not bitter or nothing. She is glad that her suicide attempt actually saved her life. What a great Read about God's amazing power!!

I received this book from Waterbrook Multnomah for free for my honest review on the book

Six Reasons I don't approve of Drinking.

I have never drank any alcoholic beverage,no I am not perfect and I am by no means sinless. I am a sinner just like everyone else. I though will never touch alcohol. Why? Some people say it's alright and think it's not going to hurt anybody. It does hurt you. All magazines and TV do now is make beer ads. The world and some parents are teaching their children it's an ok thing. I was at Outback and some people next to us ordered beer and there little girl no more then 8 years ordered a Shirley Temple drink that was non alcoholic. That's teaching your kids that when they grow up it is alright to have a drink. Yes it wasn't real alcohol but she thought she was getting something like her parents, what example is that to your children? It isn't a very good one. Well here are some reasons why it's not alright.

1. It's not just like water or a regular drink,it's a drink that is associated with wordly things of this world. Such as Partying,Clubing and being Drunk not knowing what your doing.

2. It leads to Drunk driving and killing innocent people that are just safely driving down the road.

3. It can lead to Violence and Fighting.

4. It can lead to food being took off the Childrens table because the adults buy alcohol instead of food for their children. It breaks up a lot of families.

5. It can lead to addiction where you hurt yourself.

6. It can lead to DUI and Jail time

There's tons of reasons, I have talked about this subject with people before and some of them are Christians and drink a little. I don't believe in drinking. Does it set a good example if your a Christian sitting there with a drink? No it does not! It ruins a lot of people's lives. So just think before you take that drink just one night of drinking can lead to life long mistake.
